Resumo O sete-capoteiro, espécie negligenciada, apresenta grande importância ecológica e cultural, com grande potencial econômico, todavia, os estudos para essa e demais espécies nativas da família Myrtaceae ainda são escassos. O objetivo deste estudo foi elucidar aspectos da germinação e viabilidade do pólen dessa espécie. Para o experimento, utilizou-se pólen proveniente de flores em pré e pós-antese, o qual foi desidratado em câmara contendo sílica, por diferentes períodos. Para os testes de germinação, utilizaram-se diferentes concentrações de sacarose, de ácido bórico e de nitrato de cálcio. Após obter resultados de germinação acima de 80%, os grãos de pólen foram armazenados em geladeira (5 °C), freezer (-17 °C), nitrogênio líquido (-147 °C) e ambiente natural (± 25 °C), avaliando mensalmente a germinação, até perda total de viabilidade. Para a germinação, recomenda-se a utilização de pólen proveniente de flores em pós-antese, desidratado por 24 horas em câmara de sílica. O meio de cultura deve conter 12% de sacarose, 10% de ácido bórico e 20% de nitrato de cálcio para obtenção de altos percentuais germinativos. Ainda, o pólen apresenta comportamento ortodoxo e, quando armazenado em nitrogênio líquido, permanece viável durante 30 dias.

Abstract Sete-capote tree, a neglected species, has great ecological, cultural and potential economic importance, however, studies for this and other native species of the Myrtaceae family are still scarce. The objective of this study was to elucidate aspects of pollen germination and viability of this specie. For the experiment, pollen from flowers in pre and post anthesis was used, which was dehydrated in a chamber containing silica, for different periods. For germination tests, different concentrations of sucrose, boric acid and calcium nitrate were used. After obtaining germination results above 80%, the pollen grains were stored in refrigerator (5 °C), freezer (-17 °C), liquid nitrogen (-147 °C) and natural environment (± 25 °C), evaluating monthly the germination, until total loss of viability. For germination, it was recommend using pollen from flowers in post-anthesis, dehydrated for 24 hours in a silica chamber. The culture medium should contain 12% sucrose (C12H22O11), 10% boric acid (H3BO3) and 20% calcium nitrate (Ca(NO3)2) to obtain high germinative percentages. In addition, pollen presents orthodox behavior and when stored in liquid nitrogen, remains viable for 30 days.

ABSTRACT. The aim of this work was to verify by means of adaptability and stability analyses which genotype of Plinia sp. (jabuticaba tree) is more adapted to orchard conditions, based on the measures of stem growth and primary shoots. During a three-year period, the initial growth of jabuticaba tree genotypes from the native fruit collection of the Experimental Station of the Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná - Câmpus Dois Vizinhos was evaluated. These genotypes included seedlings from forest fragments of the southwestern region of Paraná State and some from Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed, in a 29 x 3 factorial design, with three replicates in each treatment. Phenotypic adaptability and genotypic stability were evaluated based on the data obtained by the following methods: Eberhart and Russell, Lin and Binns and the AMMI. The analyses were carried out through the computer programs GENES and Stability. The methods that were tested to determine the adaptability and stability of the growth behaviour of the jabuticaba tree did not present consistent patterns in the results. However, the genotype generally referred to as 'Vitorino' was the most suitable for open-air cultivation.

RESUMO O Brasil é um dos países com a maior diversidade vegetal do mundo, com destaque para a família Myrtaceae, à qual pertence a jabuticabeira. Seus frutos são de grande aceitabilidade, mas é pouco explorada comercialmente, pois demora a entrar em produção. Objetivou-se avaliar o comportamento vegetativo e reprodutivo de jabuticabeira híbrida submetida a tratamentos de indução de florescimento. Adotou-se delineamento em blocos casualizados, com os seguintes tratamentos: carbureto de cálcio, etefon, paclobutrazol, manejo diário de irrigação e controle. Foram avaliados os dados de crescimento e desenvolvimento reprodutivo. Para crescimento vegetativo, não houve diferença entre os tratamentos, demonstrando não haver efeito negativo. Já o paclobutrazol mostrou-se o mais promissor, por antecipar o florescimento, ser efetivo na indução e apresentar maior produção.

ABSTRACT Brazil is one of the countries with the greatest vegetal diversity in the world, especially for the Myrtaceae family, to which the jabuticaba tree belongs. Its fruits are of great acceptability, but it is little explored commercially, because it takes a long time to reach the production stage. This study aimed to evaluate the vegetative and reproductive behavior of hybrid jabuticaba trees under flowering induction treatments. A randomized block design was used, with the following treatments: calcium carbide, etefon, paclobutrazol, daily irrigation management and control. Growth and reproductive development data were evaluated. For vegetative growth, there was no difference among the treatments, demonstrating no negative effect. On the other hand, paclobutrazol showed to be the most promising treatment, because it anticipates flowering, is effective in induction and results in a higher production.

RESUMO O tomateiro arbóreo (Solanum betaceum) é espécie pouco conhecida, porém, apresenta frutos com enorme potencialidade de mercado, uma vez que podem ser consumidos tanto in natura como na forma industrializada. Contudo, um dos entraves para essa potencialidade se tornar realidade é a produção de mudas. A propagação dessa espécie ocorre por meio de sementes, mas, normalmente, a germinação requer tempo, principalmente sob condições de estresse. Objetivou-se verificar se existe dormência em sementes de tomate arbóreo e a técnica adequada para obter germinação rápida e uniforme. O delineamento foi o inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 5 x 2 (métodos para superação de dormência x luz), com 4 repetições de 50 ou 60 sementes, de acordo com o ciclo produtivo. Os métodos avaliados foram estratificação, hidrocondicionamento, condicionamento osmótico com GA3 e controle, com e sem luz. Também foram avaliados a germinação e o índice de velocidade de germinação, bem como o início e tempo médio de germinação. A utilização de GA3 na concentração de 100 mg L-1 ou 300 mg L-1 é recomendada para a germinação de sementes de tomate arbóreo.

ABSTRACT The tree tomato (Solanum betaceum) is a poorly known species that has fruits with great economic potential, as it can be consumed in natura or industrialized. However, for reaching this potential, it is necessary the development of technologies for seedlings production. The propagation of this species is mainly done by seeds, but the seed germination process is usually slow, especially under stress conditions. This study aimed at verifying whether tree tomato seeds have dormancy and which is the best method to obtain fast and uniform germination. A completely randomized design was adopted in a 5 x 2 factorial arrangement (methods to overcome dormancy x light), with four replications of 50 or 60 seeds, depending on the production cycle. The methods tested were cold stratification, hydropriming, priming with GA3 solution and control, with or without light. Seed germination and germination rate index, as well as the beginning and average time of germination, were also evaluated. The use of GA3 at a concentration of 100 mg L-1 or 300 mg L-1 is recommended to the germination of tree tomato seeds.
